He has a less common type called Primary Progressive Aphasia.
This is a type of degenerative condition which first affects the brain’s language system.
Diagnosis and support for people with this type of aphasia varies a lot.
Often it is not good enough.
Speakeasy, along with Manchester University and others working in this area are looking at how we can improve
services across Greater Manchester
We have recently had several meetings with people impacted by this condition.
We listened to their experiences.
We asked them what support they received and what support they would have liked.
We are using this information to help our conversations about how services can be improved.
We are planning more meetings, allowing people to meet together and share information and experiences.
We also hope to find funding to allow more vital support to be offered.
If you or anyone you know is living with Primary Progressive
Aphasia and would like to chat about support available, please get in touch.
