Speakeasy is 40! Donate now to keep our fantastic work going for another 40 years!

What’s on

We offer a wide variety of activities and projects, courses and training throughout the year, in different locations across Greater Manchester.

All our activity is guided by what people with aphasia and their carers tell us they need.

If you or someone you know is interested in any of our activities, please email office@speakeasy-aphasia.org.uk.

If you are new to Speakeasy complete our referral form first. We can then contact you about what might be best for you.

Ngalinda Presentation

Ngalinda  from  Dubai  gave  a  fantastic  talk  at  our  aphasia  group on  Tuesday.

He  shared  the  story  of  his  stroke  when  he  was  only  32  and  his  journey of  recovery  so  far.

It  was  fantastic  to  see  how  he  has  progressed  since  we  first  met  him  last Summer.

He  inspired  others  with  his  determination  and  enthusiasm and to  have  a  go  at   speaking  to  the  group  themselves.

This  is  a  great  way  to  get  to  know  each  other  –  our  members  have  many fascinating  jobs,  hobbies  and  interests!

It  is  also  a great  way  to  develop  confidence  in  speaking  to  a  bigger groups  of  people.

Speakeasy’s 40th campaign is well underway

A huge thanks to Ali  Beswick,  a   speech  and  language  therapist  from  the  Bury  and  a  great  supporter  of  our  work.

She  organised  a  bake  sale  to  raise  money   for  us and raised  well  over  £100.

They  also   had  lots  of  conversations  with  other  health  professionals  about what  aphasia  is  and  shared  about  the  support  that  Speakeasy  provides.

Thank  you  to  Ali  and  all  the  team  who  supported  this  event.

RHS Bridgewater visit

Speakeasy recently organised a visit to RHS Bridgewater

We had the time to walk, talk and appreciate the gardens together.

Activities like this give people opportunity to do something they

might not otherwise, without the support of a group like Speakeasy.

As well as the benefits of being outdoors in nature it was a great way to

get to know people better and have new and different conversations.
